Coca-Cola Essay Essays Coca-Cola Essay Essay Coca-Cola Essay Essay COLA-WARS Main Issue: Factors causing the decline in CSDs and Cola Sales: - Carbonated Soft Drinks (CSDs), the foundation of Coca-Cola’s brand is declining, although it still holds the highest market share in comparison to non-CSD beverages. Coca-Cola is at risk of eventually producing a negative return from its CSDs and to be outperformed by non-CSDs, non-carb beverages and bottled water within its own product line, and with its competitors if the current trends persist in the future. A combination of factors have played a role in the CSD downturn, including a significant change in consumer behaviour and perceptions, government regulations, increase in input prices, competitor innovations, financial indicators and production complexities that all contribute to Coca-Cola’s diminishing sales for which will all be examined and discussed in detail throughout the following body. In 1886, Coca-Cola was developed and its bottling network grew rapidly and reached 370 franchises by 1910. Its introduction of a carbonated soda beverage was like no other on the market where demand had a steady incline until the mid-2000s. During this period, the market entered into an economic downturn, sales declined as consumers opted for cheaper alternatives. (#) In addition to a lowered disposable income, there have been growing health concerns about CSDs and proven linkage between obesity and nutrition. The public began to view the ingredients as unnatural and unhealthy, where hazardous concerns about ingredients increase from 40% in 2004 to 53% in 2010. In response, initiatives to discourage purchase involved a 20% tax with the intentions to cut calorie intake from sugary drinks by up to 49% a per a day in the US and the banishment of these drinks on school premises had a negative effect on Coca-Cola’s sales and market share. Coke’s annual report identified obesity and health concerns as the number one risk factor for its business. The health conscious consumer base grew which lead to a significant shift in the market where there is an increase in non-CSDs, fruit drinks and bottled water. Consumption of CSDs maintained a steady incline from the 1970s and peaked in 2000 with 53. 0 to 46. 0 in 2009 and market share went down to 17. 0 from 20. 4 in 2000. Operations ran efficiently where its high speed production lines that was interchangeable only for productions of similar type and packages of similar size. However, with the spike in non-CSDs, production processes had to accommodate expensive modifications for the complicated alternative beverages caused. The finished goods required a smaller but specialized production process that were challenging for bottlers to make with their existing infrastructure. Bottlers became vulnerable as they were not fully participating in the new growth of the business and also being bypassed by Coke in the distribution of their non-CSDs. Also, mass merchandisers that used its size to exert pricing pressures on Coke who only wanted to negotiate marketing and shelving arrangements directly with concentrate makers which are a traditional practice of bottlers that benefited from distributing in exclusive territories. Bottlers incurred higher distribution and sales costs where cost of goods reached 90% of sales, the highest level in more than two decades. Supplier inputs and fierce competition which resulted in pricing discounts becoming the norm which had Coke struggling to maintain its market share. Consumers are now at the point of expecting sales and are less inclined to make purchases at a regular retail price which has keeps Coca-Cola’s margins. In addition, merchandisers who use its power to exert pricing pressure and substantial rebates for major accounts, such as reducing its per unit price to its franchisees to $1. 45 from $6. 20, 23% weighs heavily on Coca-Cola’s sales but it necessary to secure accounts away from its competitors. Aurelius defines the man by his introspection and lack of material wealth. Aurelius shows man what needs to be done in order to be happy. Marx's implicitly says that our happiness is defined by the projection of our self-identity. Aurelius says we only can find freedom when we no longer depend on material wealth. Karl Marx "work is essential so that an individual does not become estranged or alienated from himself and other workers." Self-conception is defined by the fruits of one's efforts. Work or labor on physical matter enables an individual to meet his basic needs and see himself in terms of society. If we agree that self-conception is defined by the effort one puts into the work, both Marx and Aurelius agree to the meaning of happiness. Aurelius would say that Necessity is the need to work. The ability to create from the soul forms one's personal identity and thus enables personal survival and the desire to survive. These three concepts are the basis of humanity. Aurelius would agree at his level, as change keeps the universe going. "The transformation of nature into objects is one of the fundamental aspects of human condition. Two different philosophers agree that the universe has to have constant creation and change otherwise there is decay and death. Aurelius used different language to say that we are all from one universe and must work together to find a common ground. It is not natural to stand in each other's way. He would have agreed with Marx that it would not have been natural to have an unhappy worker. Aureliu s didn't want the man to become distracted by the material aspects of life. He did not really explain if the necessities of life were part of the material aspects. One would have to assume that he meant material wealth. The basic daily needs of man were met. Once again Aurelius and Marx mentioned that people should not have to suffer from others, whether they were good or bad if they did not work harmoniously together.

Students who are from low income homes might not have all the resources that students form high income homes might have, but they should still review over their homework. The more they review the better they will do in school. Students from low income homes should go for extra help if they don’t understand something. Some students might have well educated parents who can help them but if they don’t they should go for extra help. For some low income home students, homework is as hard as a rock because it is hard, and for most high income home students, homework sometimes has easy killing questions. There is a specific time students from each grade should be spending on their homework. Homework is work at home, work at home is homework. Students from high school should spend at least 1  ½ to 2  ½ hours per night on their homework. Middle school students should spend at least less than 1 hour per night, but if students spend more time on their homework than this, they will probably do better, and everything will seem easier for them to understand. As it was mentioned before, homework is very important to get good grades on tests, quizzes, exams, etc. For some students homework is very hard, for some students homework is very easy, and for some students homework is just fine. But students should always keep in mind that homework is the key to get good marks in classes.

The parents of the victim "Hope" were filled with revenge because of what Matthew did, not why he did it. The father of the victim " Walter" was very sympathetic, he understanding of what Matthew was going through. SISTER HELEN Sister Helen was very unsure about what she was doing in life. She became a nun to give back to the community which gave her good Christian morals and values. By becoming a nun she was able to teach others to respect life and become more like Jesus (A Son of God). As a child Sister Helen was taught to be very supportive and to give this support to those who needed her help. When confronted with Matthew, Sister Helen tries to see the good in him and show him the respect she believes he deserves. She believes that there is good in all man and that every person deserves respect. Sister Helen understands that what Matthew did was wrong, but she also knows that every person is worth more than their worst act, and that ,"No man deserves to die . . .". In Sister Helen's mind every man deserves a chance. From insight into her background and Christian upbringing Sister Helen is able to see and feel for Matthew as a person and not as an object of "...scum or as a monster...". The media's understanding and the victims parents understanding is that Sister Helen believes that Matthew was wronged by the system.

Either way, the truth is something that can decide one’s fate. Society often decides what is true and what is false; however, sometimes these truths are indeed a lie. In order to come to the realization that what was once perceived true is actually a lie, one must embark on a trek to discover the genuine truth.As evidenced by Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, Arthur Miller’s play The Crucible, and Billy Collins’ poem â€Å"Introduction to Poetry†, it is one’s responsibility to seek his or her own truth and therefore control his or her own destiny. Guy Montag lives in a society where the majority accepts a lie as the truth. Montag and others are taught to believe that books cause harm and desolation to the people around them, and should therefore be banned from society. Afte r his wife Mildred’s attempted suicide, Montag realizes that although people in his society are alive, they are not truly living.He assumes that in the absence of books, his society has become completely absent of emotion and he yearns to discover why. Through this journey, Montag encounters an old English professor by the name of Faber who explains that it is not books that Montag desires, but the important qualities that they teach instead. He learns that books allow people to obtain information, express emotion, and think freely. After uncovering the truth, Montag then decides that it is his destiny to restore these necessary qualities, and bring life to a seemingly dead society.The idea of witchcraft has consumed the minds of the people in the town of Salem, and while some decide to fall victim to the mind control of society, others attempt to remain truthful to their moral beliefs. As the accusations of witchcraft escalate, some people in Salem fail to seek the courage t hat it takes to remain truthful. These people decide to lie and avoid being hanged or imprisoned while the others who decide to tell the truth and become victims of a corrupt society.John proctor refuses to compromise his moral values and decides to speak the truth and thus deny any witchcraft activity. This decision ultimately determines Proctor’s fate and allows him to die an honest man. Proctor’s discovery that confessing to a perceived truth is of greater consequence than telling the actual truth allows Proctor to die with dignity and honor. Poem’s are unique in the way that there is no one true answer because poems contain ambiguous text that allows different people to take away different meanings.The truth or the meaning of a poem lies behind one’s individual interpretation and therefore it is each reader’s responsibility to discover it on his or her own rather than simply being told it. Discovering the truth behind a poem can be a painstakin g task but it can also be enjoyable. No matter the difficulty of the process, discovering one’s own truth is necessary and fulfilling. By realizing the meaning of a poem, the reader has the ability to take this meaning and apply it to his or her own life and learn the true importance of poetry.In the end, John Proctor, Guy Montag and all readers of poetry discover that the truth is a valuable entity that requires great responsibility. The truth is something that cannot only benefit oneself, but also the society in which he or she lives in. The truth has the ability to shed knowledge and joy, and should therefore be discovered by everyone. As a result, one should always take part in his or her own journey to discover the truth about the society in which he or she lives in; otherwise, one never knows if they are living a life of lies in which society has proclaimed to be true.

This Embedded Assessment is very mentally challenging. The assignment keeps you thinking. After I heard our assignment for today, I just sat there wondering, which aspect of my life do I choose? Out of all my symbols which one is going to be the easiest to write about? I realized, it isn’t about getting it done quickly. It was about getting the most out of it. So without further ado I present to you†¦ two symbols of my home culture! I grew up very quickly and didn’t have much of a childhood. My culture is completely revolving around my family life. In a short period of time I changed a lot and matured more. My family and friends are extremely important to me. When I was younger my family broke apart for various reasons and since then I have not seen my father. It was hard trying to act like nothing had changed for us. I had to be a big sister and forget about my issues. Isabell is the largest aspect of my life and that can be an issue sometimes. Relationships between friends and boyfriends have been forgotten about because of our strong bond. That is why I chose a photo of my younger sister and I. It is a photo taken of Izzy and I, the day that she was born. Another artifact of my life I chose is one of my Cappie medals. The Cappies of Greater Cincinnati program is a way for teens in drama club can feel more rewarded in all aspects of the theater. Scott Drama is a program that is very welcome and inviting. Being in Drama is like having a second family that you can go to for all of your problems. We fight and bicker, but together we make some awesome shows. Last year we were nominated for several categories, which is a huge deal for a public school in Northern Kentucky. We are going up against schools like St. Xavier, Cincinnati Christian Schools, Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy,Colerain High School, Sycamore High School,Taylor High School,Turpin High School and even School of Creative and Performing Arts. It’s very prestigious to even get nominated and even more so if you do win. It’s very close to my heart (literally).

The first type (which we most often think of as the true Horror movie) is where we come across supernatural monsters such as vampires, werewolves, demons, ghosts and zombies. These are creatures of legend and come from thousands of years of human psychic response to the mysteries of the earth. The scientific horror film is the type where we find the mad scientist(s) creating (or discovering) something outside of nature; something that will be lost from human control and run amok before being overpowered (usually) by the military, and the world is restored to peace and harmony. The monsters featured here are often new creations, things weve never imagined, never mind seen. Sometimes they are not made or found by Man they exist just ouside of human awareness until they feel it necessary to appear and endanger the human species. The third batch of horrors are the naturalistic monsters which our daily news is often reporting. These are the serial killers and the psycho murderers, the madmen and the crazies. Sometimes these creatures are created for the screen from the very real life atrocities that scream from the headlines. Or, indeed, are perhaps covered up by the media for fear of copycat crimes. Other times the monster is an animal, such as a bear or a reptile (usually grown to above-average size), or even a group of beasts (ants, bees, spiders, dogs). Now, none of this is simple and strict categorisation. Some monsters may be difficult to slot into a certain genre. For example, the giant bear that runs amok in Grizzly could be hungry due to a lack of his usual foresty foodstuffs (creating a naturalistic horror), or he could be a scientifically altered, perhaps by manmade chemicals in the water supply, to reach a monstrous size and therefore unable to not eat humans to supplement his diet. The Cape Lion has the dubious honor of being one of the few big cats to have been hunted, rather than harassed, into extinction: most individuals were shot and killed by European settlers, rather than slowly starving due to habitat loss or poaching of their accustomed prey. For a while, in the early 2000s, it seemed that the Cape Lion might be de-extincted: a zoo director from South Africa discovered a population of big-maned lions in Russias Novosibirsk Zoo, and announced plans to perform genome  testing and (if the results were positive for fragments of Cape Lion DNA) attempt to re-breed the Cape Lion back into existence. Unfortunately, the zoo director died in 2010 and the Novosibirsk Zoo closed a couple of years later, leaving these putative Cape Lion descendants in limbo.
